2009 has been a busy year year for us reforming our committee was our first priority followed by the difficult decision not to enter the Britain in Bloom competition. Fundraising started with a Coffee morning and was followed in the summer with BuBBles and Berries, both of which successfully swelled our funds. The Autumn saw a new store opening in our town M & Co who helped put on a fashion show to further add to our funds. It was very successful and they would like to do another one in the spring, Their donations will help towards next year's planting. Our thanks go out to them

2009 also sees us working with the Vision Group, SidVale Association and the Keith Owen Trust
All of us have a similar aim in keeping Sidmouth Blooming whilst doing so responsibly by introducing as much sustainable planting as we can.
Funding.
Funding is always a challenge and this year we and the whole of East Devon faced massive cuts in funding for its floral funding, but it was felt to be too important and has been left alone for now. (see press cutting in the slideshow)
We in Sidmouth in Bloom fund the displays in the Sea World and many troughs and displays throughout the town. To do this we have to raise £10,000 a year and the town comes up trumps each year. People and businesses sponsor individual troughs and pots as well as making donations and supporting our fundraising events.
Besides funds, we are always on the look out for people to be able to help us at different times throughout the year. We try to look after the areas of the town that the Council can't reach. This takes the form of tidying and sometimes weeding and planting. These are things that children can do with their parents. Grandparents are also welcomed as every age group has its own skills.
