Our Motto is
"Sidmouth in Bloom - be part of it"

Our aim is to involve as many local people as possible in Sidmouth in Bloom. A close relationship with our local paper The Sidmouth Herald, ensures the best possible publicity.

We involve our committee with local schools in painting competitions and planting schemes, school gardening clubs and inter-school planting competitions.

Committee members plant out and look after areas in Sidmouth and encourage residents to do the same. We have regular 'Friends' gatherings where talks are given regarding soil types, peat alternatives and the encouragement of wild life into our gardens. Speakers include Keiron Bewes Garden designer and James Chubb, EDDC Ranger

We have installed and paid for self-watering schemes in the town at the Swimming Pool and the Market Place.

We now use“container reservoir” type hanging baskets and troughs, which cut the watering down to twice a week. We have new large standing planters for the town centre which are planted throughout the year; these have been sponsored by local business associations and have made a major impact to our town centre and are very much admired and appreciated by all.

Some of the Committee’s work can be seen at the following places:
Floral Planters around Car Parks at the Ham, Mill Street and Russell Street
Flower Baskets at the Ford over the River Sid, New Planters at the Parish Church,
Borders at the Connaught Gardens are designed and planted by school children instigated by our President.

The Spectacular Sea World at the Triangle has taken the committee several years to complete; it now comprises fish, star fish, treasure chest and a Whelk set in a sustainable setting of bamboos, ferns and grasses which mirror the bottom of the sea.
